Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie reunites him with some of his previous collaborators, and it’s also the first major acting role of a very popular football player. Ryan Murphy continues his work in the horror genre outside of American Horror Story and Monster with Grotesquerie, though this project quickly drew comparisons to American Horror Story in terms of its tone and way of approaching horror. However, Grotesquerie aims to take horror a bit further than previous Murphy projects have done, and for that, it brings old and new talents into the Murphyverse.

Grotesquerie follows Detective Lois Tryon, who is investigating a series of horrible crimes in a small community. The case turns out to be a lot more complex than Tryon thought, so she enlists the help of Sister Megan, a nun and Catholic Guardian journalist. To make it all more complicated for Tryon, she has problems with her family, while Sister Megan deals with her own demons as a result of a dark and difficult past. Together, they find themselves trapped in a sinister web that only raises more questions. Grotesquerie has some familiar faces from previous projects by Murphy, along with some new talents.
