Tips and Tricks - Dying Light 2 Guide - IGN (2025)

Welcome to IGN's Dying Light 2 Stay Human Tips and Trick Guide, your one-stop shop for all your Tips and Tricks to help you survive your stay in villedor. At its core, Dying Light 2 Stay Human is an RPG with many mechanics and the game teaches you a lot of them. Here are 15 essential tips that you should know in Dying Light 2 Stay Human.

Throw Every Spear You Find

Spears are commonly found in areas you're about to fight a mini-boss, boss, or randomly in bandit camps. They can only be thrown once, and if you miss, you can't pick them up again, so make sure you hit whatever you're aiming at because they do a lot of damage.

Cut off Limbs Your Enemies

Aim for the limbs whenever you find yourself in a fight with more than one enemy. Both zombies and humans can have limbs that can be cut off. While fighting zombies, be sure to aim for the legs or arms. Both can be cut off and help you greatly if you find yourself fighting a horde.

Bees Always Have Weapons

Whenever you find a beehive, you can always bet that there's a weapon nearby it. Sometimes one can be seen lodged into a tree stub or found in the shed next to the hive.

Always Listen to Your Surroundings

It's always a good idea to listen to what's happening around you while playing. Because you never know what's waiting for you around the corner, it's common to find people crying out for help or NPCs shouting at you from rooftops waiting to give you a quest. But it's also essential to pay attention because if you're in a fight with zombies or humans, you can hear both call for backup, and knowing which ones call for help can make all the difference in a fight.

When Fighting More Than One Person Always Be Moving

It's easy to find yourself fighting a horde of enemies, and it'll happen more than you think. This applies to both humans and zombies; never back yourself into a corner. Always be on the move, land a hit and run away, find somewhere to climb so that way you can get an aerial attack too.

Kill Everyone

Dying Light 2 Stay Human doesn't have any moral system in-game. So what that means is you can kill all random NPCs that you find in the city. Some might run away in fear because of what you're trying to do, and others will stay and fight. Doing this won't affect your game at all, even if you kill NPCs that are sided with certain factions. You'll be able to revisit these NPCs, and it'll be as if you never murdered their friends. Plus, doing this is a great way to earn combat points fast.

It Doesn't Matter Who You Side With

The game will often put you in a situation forcing you to back one of the two factions in-game. Other than being rewarded with specific abilities that each faction offers, it won't affect the game in any way. You'll still be able to travel into each faction's territory without fear of being attacked by either one. Both will always welcome you in with open arms, even if you don't give one side any reason to do so.

Use Survivor Vision

Even though the game tells you at the very beginning how important it is to use survivor vision, it can be easy to forget you have it. It would help if you always used it whenever you enter any building, random huts, or near bee hives because the odds are there's some good loot waiting to be picked up right around the corner.

Parrying Is Your Best Friend

It can be easy to forget how to parry in a fight, especially when you find yourself fighting a horde of enemies. But it would be best if you took the time to master the art of parrying because the game will run a lot smoother for you once you do. When a parry is performed, it stuns the enemy and leaves them open for a counterattack. Learning to parry is enough for you to turn the tide of any fight.

Humans and Special Zombies Can Throw Stuff at You

Always be on the lookout for projectiles coming at you in a fight. When you're fighting humans in a group, you can often see one reach for a knife to throw at you or one getting the high ground to shoot an arrow at you. Knowing when one is about to shoot/throw something at you will save you from using any healing supplies. Lucky for zombies, only special variants can shoot stuff at you. You won't have to worry about them too much and only if you're in a main story mission, a particular area that one would spawn in, or at night.

Always Craft

Crafting can sometimes be annoying because it requires you to stop whatever you're doing to craft an item. But it's one of the most important things to do because the moment you put off crafting is the exact moment where you're going to need medicine to heal in a fight or throw knives. So always take the time to stop what you're doing to craft whatever you need.

You Earn More Points at Night if You Don't Die

Staying out at night is a great way to level up fast. You always get a night bonus for both parkour can and combat whenever nighttime comes around. Fighting and running around will earn you a lot of points and fast. But be careful because at night, everything becomes a lot more challenging, and if you die, you'll lose all the bonus points you've earned.

Time Doesn't Stop if You Pick Locks

It's easy to get the idea that time stops while picking locks because the whole screen zooms into the lock. But time still moves as you're picking locks, so if you're in the middle of a fight, it wouldn't be wise to start picking a lock because the enemies will still be able to land a free hit or two on you. And if you're in an area that speeds up your infection, pick the lock fast because the last thing you want is to start turning into a zombie as you're looting.

Stay on the Roofs at Night

If you decide to venture out during the night, it'd be wise if you travel by rooftop rather than running through the streets. Because if you're on the streets, the odds of running into a Howler is high, and if they're alerted, they'll alarm the other zombies and activate a chase. But if you stick on the roofs, you'll only run into regular zombies and won't have to worry about starting a chase.

Pick Your Fights

Even though the game does reward you for getting into intense fights, be sure to pick and choose them wisely. It's easy to get caught up in a fight and feel like you're unstoppable because of all the cool tricks you can do along the way. But knowing how much you can take on will save you a lot of healing supplies and your weapons from breaking.
